The New Forest Agricultural Show
(Example of some of the activities happening during the July 2003 Show)
Show Background

The first New Forest Show was held in 1921 – a one-day Show. In 1978 the Show grew to a two-day event and it subsequently became three-day Show in 1989. Held annually during the last week of July, the Show attracts 100,000 visitors over the three days, with car parks handling in the region of 8,000 – 10,000 cars each day. The Show has an excellent reputation both locally and nationally, and is rated amongst the top ten Agricultural and Equestrian shows in the UK.

Forest Fun Factory - Why it exists

The Forest Fun Factory offers all of the visitors and families the opportunity of somewhere to go and have themselves or just the children entertained for part or all of the day and is conveniently located within one of the food arenas and close to the entrance of the showground. This section of the show ground maintains the Forest & community theme by arranging performers & entertainers from the local area and is of great value to visitors and the show itself.

Entertainment Performances
If you have been for a holiday at Butlins before then no doubt you will have met the famous Redcoats. If you are stranger to Butlins and all the entertainment it has to offer, then get yourself down to the New Forest Show to see what all the fuss is about.

The much-loved Redcoats have had a high profile since the first Butlins resort opened in 1936.
Butlins has become a breeding ground for many stars of the past and the present. Butlins is seen as a stepping-stone to stardom for most of the young

entertainers and performers who appear at the resorts in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness. Many Redcoats succeed in their ambition of going on to work within the TV, stage and music industry. The shows bring all the holiday entertainment to your very own doorstep!

Bring the whole family along to enjoy the new ‘Reds on the Road’ team. There will be singing, dancing and endless things to do for the kids. The Redcoats will perform traditional Covent Garden style street entertainment, from juggling and diablo, to plate spinning and mystical tricks. The kids can enjoy organised games, workshops and interactive activities.
Butlins prides itself on its first class entertainment, and for many guests the Redcoats play a key role in the overall enjoyment of their stay. Who knows, you may even win a few Butlins goodies!

The New Forest Junior Chamber Orchestra
The Juggling Workshop
The New Forest Junior Chamber Orchestra was founded in September 2002, by Angela Bonetti a founder member of the Petrus Ensemble. The constituent parts of the group include string players, whom are her pupils, and to complement these, a woodwind section. It is hoped that brass and percussion members will also become an integral part of this company of promising musicians. The children attend schools in and around the New Forest and attend weekly rehearsals at the Forest Arts Centre in New Milton.

Take part in our complete family workshop with opportunities for children and adults to learn how to juggle, plate spin, stilt walking and balloon modelling.

Each year this section of the show is extremely highly regarded by parents and the show organisers as a safe place for their families. Whilst the children are being entertained they are also given the opportunity to experience 'live' entertainment, something which we believe is not sufficiently introduced into general lives and forms additional cultural experience.

The Forest Fun Factory infrastructure costs normally consist of around £2.5K and such expenditure is needed before arranging direct entertainment. The 'direct' entertainment charges for operating the 2003 Forest Fun Factory amounted to £2K, which excluded in-kind contributions of £650 from Infinity Entertainments for stage operating costs.

Many entertainers such as the community groups naturally do not make a set fee for their performances, however normally require a donation to assist in their continued community development and where appropriate costume costs, something, which we believe, is extremely important.

We would like to formally thank you for your kind donation and for supporting the 2003 Forest Fun Factory and New Forest Show. Without local business support this section of the show would not operate and we are therefore developing additional incentives whereby we may generate further involvement and interest.
